The Pocono Mountain Region is found in Northeastern Pennsylvania. it's a popular tourist destination within easy driving distance of Philadelphia , New York , and most of New Jersey .  The region is noted for it's mountains, and is a popular Fall Foliage destination.

Recreation and adventure

The Poconos offer year  round outdoor recreation .  The area abounds with Parks , gamelands, lakes, Rivers , hiking trails and ski resorts in addition to other offerings .  There are a number of resorts that offer a wide variety of activities on their grounds including skeet shooting and sporting clays. The Poconos are great for families and couples looking for a romantic getaway. There are a number of State Parks as well as opportunities, for fishing, paintball, golf, water sports and skiing

Location

The Poconos encompass a number of Pennsylvania counties including  Wayne, Corbin, Monroe and parts of Susquehanna , Luzerne , Lackawanna, and Northampton. They are located in the northeast section of the state. 

Getting there

Most visitors will travel by private auto. There are some smaller airports throughout the area. Major Roads include: The Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-476) and Interstates 80, 81, 380 and 84.

• Lehigh Valley International Airport in Allentown
• Mountain Bay Airpark - Near Lake Wallenpaupack
• Pocono Mountain Municipal Airport in Mount Pocono
• Stroudsburg-Pocono Airpark
• Wilkes-Barre Scranton International Airport in Avoca.

You can find a number of Air Tours available.

Busses and other public transportation

•  Martz Trailways services a number of towns in the Poconos with bus (motorcoach) transportation.
• The Monroe County Transportation Authority provides bus transportation within Monroe County.
