Jim Thorpe has a truly unique character. It is situated on the side of a mountain with the Lehigh River and railroad at the lower end. The town has a number of beautiful Victorian Homes and the distinctive Carbon County Courthouse.

Attractions

The Asa Packer House is well worth a tour. For model railroad fans, there is a model railroad display in town and another just down the road. You can board the train for a scenic tour, visit the old jail or go whitewater rafting. For details, see our:

Accommodations

Jim Thorpe boasts a number of Bed and Breakfasts as well as the Inn at Jim Thorpe. The Inn at Jim Thorpe is nicely located near the bottom of the hill and close to the major attractions. They have a parking lot with a limited number of spots.

Getting There

Jim Thorpe is easily accessible from the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike, just a short drive from the Lehighton Exit just after the first northbound tunnel. Keep in mind that parking can be very tight in the town. Make sure you have change for the meters.
