Pennsylvania State Parks in the Poconos

Pennsylvania's State Park system offers a wide variety of outdoor activities including swimming, picnicking, hiking, boating, fishing, cross country skiing and more. Keep in mind that large areas of the parks are open to hunting during the hunting seasons. Call ahead during the winter months because the parks will occasionally close due to weather conditions.

If you are planning to go boating or fishing, be sure to check the regulations beforehand. Also, some of the parks may offer boat rentals. Many of the parks allow ice fishing in season.

If you want to try fishing with younger children, consider one of the 'pay for what you catch' ponds listed on our fishing page. You usually will not need a license to fish in a private pond.

Pennsylvania has made a real effort to provided handicap accessible facilities, especially for picnicking where possible. Check the individual parks for details.
